My philosophies for teaching start with skill building and focus on what the student needs. I have developed a rich practice on my own, but also within a team and larger curriculum in the drama schools I work at. I am well versed in pedagogies such as Linklater, Feldenkrais, and Alexander Technique and Knight Thompson Speechwork. However, I believe deeply in continuing to progress the voice practices we have inherited.
Prosody in Acting
I am developing a body of work around prosody training for actors with linguistics professor Beatrice Szczepek Reed, King’s College. We are currently working with Routledge to develope our book The Responsive Voice.
Verse Coaching
I am also working closly with Jennifer Grober, a Kings PhD candidate in Early Modern English Literature, to devise new approaches to verse text. We are currently awaiting a decision on a funding application to the Shakespeare Centre to run a series of workshops for performing Shakespeare.
British Voice Association
I am a member of the Educational Working Party helping develop events to disseminate and encourage the continued development of the voice field.
